It is also important to us that we are able to offer a period of exclusivity to select staff, friends, family members, content creators and a small number of journalists in accordance with our wider marketing strategy and as thanks for their ongoing support.</p><p>The Closed Beta will close on January 5th, 2024.</p><h2 id="who-is-eligible-for-the-closed-beta" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Who is eligible for the Closed Beta?</h2><p>During this Closed Beta, only players in the EU and NA regions will be able to participate. We have keys for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 platforms and you must specify both your region and your platform when you sign-up for the Closed Beta.</p><h2 id="how-many-people-can-take-part" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">How many people can take part?</h2><p>Our goal is to get everyone who signs up into the Closed Beta, but doing so soonest is the best way to get involved.</p><h2 id="how-do-i-take-part" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">How do I take part?</h2><p>In order to take part you must navigate to the <a href="/play/playstation-beta-access">PlayStation Closed Beta page</a> of our website and complete the sign-up form, specifying your region and system requirements and agreeing to our Privacy Policy. Once you have signed up, and once the Closed Beta has begun and is available to the public, we will be emailing game keys out in waves. After receiving your game key, simply follow <a href="https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/store/redeem-ps-store-voucher-code/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">these</a> instructions to redeem it to your PlayStation account.</p><h2 id="how-will-key-distribution-work" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">How will key distribution work?</h2><p>We&#39;ll be sending out keys for the Closed Beta in waves, starting on December 5th. This is so that we can safely increase the volume of players interacting with our systems while minimising potential problems such as server capacity. </p><p>While we expect to be able to welcome everyone into the Closed Beta who wants to participate, we understand that many of you will want to be among the first to receive keys. With this in mind, we will be utilising a queue system, assigning you a position based on how early you sign up after registration opens and the number of referrals you make. </p><h2 id="you-can-refer-friends-and-family-to-move-up-your-position-in-the-queue" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">You can refer friends and family to move up your position in the queue.</h2><p>Once you&#39;ve signed up, you&#39;ll be given a unique link. For every person who also signs up using your unique link, you will move up the queue. There is no limit to the amount of people who you can refer. </p><p>Be sure to share your unique link with as many people as you can to move up the queue and grab your Closed Beta key in an earlier wave!</p><h2 id="do-i-need-ps-in-order-to-play" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Do I need PS+ in order to play?</h2><p>Nope!</p><h2 id="does-the-closed-beta-support-cross-play" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Does the Closed Beta support cross-play?</h2><p>Yes! PlayStation players will be able to play with Steam and Epic players. You will be able to add friends, join lobbies and match with any other player, regardless of platform.</p><h2 id="will-my-progress-from-pc-be-carried-over" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Will my progress from PC be carried over?</h2><p>Unfortunately not. You will not be able to carry over any progression from existing accounts.</p><h2 id="will-my-account-progression-be-saved-after-the-closed-beta" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Will my account progression be saved after the Closed Beta?</h2><p>Currently it is our intention to preserve account data after the Closed Beta, allowing you to jump right back into the action when we launch on PlayStation in the future. This may be subject to change.</p><h2 id="what-if-i-make-purchases-or-progress-on-playstation-but-i-already-have-an-account-on-pc" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">What if I make purchases or progress on PlayStation but I already have an account on PC?</h2><p>As is currently the case on Epic Games and Steam, installing and playing on a new platform such as PlayStation during the Closed Beta will be treated as a brand new account. When account linking is released, you will be forced to pick which account becomes the master account and is preserved, with any additional accounts (and their purchases and progression) being left behind. This may be subject to change.<br/></p><h2 id="what-heroes-skins-and-features-will-i-have-access-to" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">What Heroes, skins and features will I have access to?</h2><p>The Closed Beta will launch with nearly all Heroes enabled and ready to use, with a couple of extra Heroes being available on free rotation at various points during the Closed Beta period (such as Wraith and the upcoming V0.13 Hero). The Store, Platinum currency and all cosmetics will be available to interact with also, just like on PC.</p><h2 id="what-if-i-have-a-problem-relating-to-the-closed-beta-such-as-a-bug-while-playing-or-an-issue-redeeming-my-key" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">What if I have a problem relating to the Closed Beta? Today however marks the first time we&#39;re letting our new website do the work for us! </p><p>That&#39;s right, the patch notes you&#39;ll see further down this page (and in fact the stats you see across the new website) are all being pulled directly from the game engine, making them more accurate than ever before while taking less time away from our teams letting them focus on other things.</p><p>We&#39;ll still be adding our usual hand-written commentary for each Hero, explaining our changes and goals, don&#39;t you worry. And we&#39;ll also still be covering all of the other cool stuff that we add in each game update.</p><p>Speaking of, the V0.12.2 Game Update is shipping with a bunch of changes to projectiles which we think are a blast.               <p><i><sup>#JustHowiThings</sup></i></p><p>Almost all projectiles in the game have been completely rebuilt from the ground up to pretty much guarantee perfect and consistent basic attacks every time. Likewise, other special case abilities, such as <b>Gideon</b>’s <b>Void Breach</b> [<b>RMB</b>], are now much easier to smooth out on our end which means they&#39;ll feel much better and more consistent to use in-game too!</p><p>With a change as large as this there are naturally far too many modifications to list out on a Hero-by-Hero basis. So instead of boring you with a long list of minor details we’re letting you dive right on in to try out our changes for yourselves.</p><p>Of course, with any large system change such as this there will always be a potential risk for fallout and bugs affecting gameplay and balance. Rest assured, further tweaks will be made to any problem cases where required. Keep the feedback coming and we hope you&#39;ll enjoy!</p><h2 id="new-accounts-experience-boost" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">New Accounts Experience Boost</h2><p>Let’s talk about new accounts! </p><p>Off the back of introducing our recent Hero Acquisition system, we have been hard at work on alternative ways to improve the new player experience with additional onboarding systems.<br/><br/>Though it may not be arriving this year, one such initiative we are working on is a <b>Quest </b>system. One of the goals of Quests will be to further support the onboarding process by offering rewards for completing various objectives with a Hero, simultaneously developing gameplay knowledge for newer Predecessor players whilst helping them build up their Hero arsenal at a slightly accelerated rate. <br/><br/>In the meantime however we&#39;ve added an XP boost to new accounts, offering them a little extra Hero Unlock XP at the end of a match (until they hit Account Level 14), to better help them along on their journey!</p><h2 id="store-update" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Store Update</h2><h3>Casual Friday Rampage</h3><p>If, like Rampage, you&#39;ve got that Friday Feeling - we&#39;ve got the perfect skin for you!</p>

You might run into an account problem, have had some connectivity issues, or perhaps you&#39;ve found a hilarious new graphical glitch that replaces Narbash&#39;s drumsticks with literal chicken drumsticks. Anything can happen in an Early Access game. </p><p>With that in mind we&#39;re excited to launch our new Player Support Hub here on our new website, the new home for all things <b>help</b>!</p><p>Read through a bunch of articles covering all sorts of exciting topics, from wrongful mutes to finding game logs, and if you&#39;re still up the creek you can easily submit a support ticket directly to the team for even more support.</p><p>With the Player Support Hub being so new we fully expect that not every issue is going to be covered by the articles we&#39;ve written up ahead of time, so please check back regularly for more help on more topics. <p>[Update - October 23rd, 2023]</p><p>Hey Champions, </p><p>Last Friday we shared information about our upcoming Hero Affinity system, a feature that would recognise and reward your hard work and dedication with awesome new cosmetics such as titles, visual effects and of course, our highly anticipated Affinity prestige skins.</p><p>Our goal for this system was not to directly replicate any other mastery system, but to create our own comprehensive and rewarding experience that we felt fairly reflected the time players put into their favourite Heroes. Hero Affinity was never how we defined mastery, which is why we called it Affinity and not Mastery. The system was solely designed to reward players for the playtime they invested into a Hero, and it is our fault that this wasn’t clear.</p><p>After spending the weekend reviewing your feedback, talking with community members and content creators, we understand that we can improve this approach.</p><p>We heard your feedback that the prestige skins available through Hero Affinity should be available to everyone, for free. In recognition of this we have moved the prestige skins from the premium track to the free track of Hero Affinity, effective immediately with the launch of Hero Affinity. The new tracks can be seen below.</p>

              <p>One is completely free and is immediately available to progress while the other can be unlocked with Platinum to reap its rewards. The premium track also unlocks a permanent 15% Affinity XP boost for that Hero, further helping you reach those epic rewards!</p>

              <p>Any XP earned by playing matches with any given Hero will be added to that Hero’s Affinity XP pool, progressing both the free and premium tracks simultaneously. Affinity levels start out quick but require more investment the closer you are to reaching level 10.</p><p>You can purchase the premium Affinity track at any time and it’ll instantly unlock any rewards you may already be entitled to. All matches played with a Hero earns Affinity XP and progresses that Hero&#39;s Affinity level, even when you don&#39;t own a Hero but are playing it on free rotation!</p><h2 id="a-few-extra-notes" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">A few extra notes</h2><p>In the future we will be adding Affinity tokens as a way to access the premium side of the Affinity system for free, however this will not be arriving in Season 3</p><p>Currently you will need to equip Hero-specific customisation options (such as crowns and Affinity trails) in the Affinity menu. If you have an effect set in your Profile screen (such as an Ascended recall animation) it’ll be overridden by any effect you have equipped in the Affinity screen for that Hero. Emotes are automatically equipped. Non-Hero-specific customisation options (such as profile banners) will need to be equipped in the Profile menu. In the future we intend to expand and simplify how these effects and customisation options are managed and applied.</p><p>Hero Affinity will not backdate based on previous playtime with Heroes. Every Hero for all players will start at Affinity Lv. 0 as of V0.12.</p><p>This is our first iteration of Hero Affinity and represents a substantial amount of new content being added to Predecessor all at once. With that in mind (and given that we are still in Early Access) this system is subject to change and refinement, so please bear with us as we deal with any unexpected interactions or complications that might arise as a result of this new feature.</p><div class="pg-separator"></div><p>That&#39;s all for now! <p>In this blogpost, we are here to shed some light on how the Hero Acquisition system will work. We know it’s a hot topic in the community- and I hope this guide will clarify it all!</p><p>The Hero Acquisition system will take full effect as of Early Access V0.12. It has already been mostly implemented, so you might be familiar with some of the mechanisms.</p><p>The purpose behind this system is to give gamers something to work towards, as well as encourage players to try the Heroes they don’t usually play with for new and exciting combinations.</p><p><b>So how does it work?</b></p><p>Regardless of which bundle you’ve purchased or which Heroes you’ve unlocked, a selection of Heroes will always be available for everyone to use on free rotation. Eight of them, to be exact, so there’s always plenty to choose from regardless of the role you want to take on in the match!</p>

              <p>In the Heroes tab screen, you can pick any Hero you want to start unlocking - it doesn’t even need to be the one you’ll be playing with! Once you’ve picked a Hero, press “Activate Hero” and you will start gaining XP towards fully unlocking that Hero by simply playing the game. You can also change your decision anytime and switch to someone else.</p>

              <p>Heroes will have different amounts of unlock stages. Newer ones, like Serath, will always require 5 stages to unlock, but over time this might decrease. Older characters can have between 1 and 4 stages. <br/><br/></p><p>When you have gained enough XP by playing matches to complete all unlock stages of a Hero, you will permanently own them in your collection.</p>

              <p>Finally, and new for V0.12, is the ability to start unlocking new Heroes before they are even released! For example, our next new Hero will become playable on October 24th as part of the V0.12 update. One week before then (October 17th) however you&#39;ll be able to select them and begin working on unlocking them.</p><p>Earn enough XP and you&#39;ll have the new Hero unlocked and ready to play the instant they&#39;re released!</p>

<p>Greetings Champions!</p><p>As we speed towards the one year anniversary of Predecessor’s Early Access we’re tackling a topic that we know has been much discussed ever since we first launched late last year.</p><p>When we launched, we made the decision to include the Predecessor base game inside each of the three available DLC bundles, Rare, Epic and Legendary, with the bundles themselves being necessary to join our Early Access program. This meant that every bundle contained the base game, but the base game itself was never actually available on its own. At the time this solution allowed us to offer clear tiers of support and rewards, as well as the opportunity for you to flexibly upgrade your bundle if you wanted to mix things up (something we knew we had to have and will of course continue to support).</p><p>We understand however that the way this was implemented was never really perfect. For one it complicated the Steam refund process, a problem that we have since overcome but was a source of real frustration for many. Secondly (<i>and most significantly</i>), we believe that, with the way Steam works, many of you who wishlisted Predecessor on Steam before we launched into Early Access last year might have never received a notification that the game had become available, as the base version of the game was never technically purchasable. That’s potentially a bunch of Pred fans who might be missing out! A right muddle indeed.</p><p>To sort this all out we’re making the base game purchasable on its own, without the need for any fancy bundles (<i>unless you want them of course!</i>).               <p>Like in our other tiers you’ll also get an exclusive role reward on our Discord server for supporting us during Early Access (<i>to be delivered at a later date alongside Account linking</i>) and you’ll be able to unlock any additional Heroes and all future Heroes by simply playing the game.</p><p>For those of you who already own a Rare, Epic or Legendary bundle, nothing should change for you. Except of course that you also now have the new Constructor Steel skin! Check your inventory, it should be there right now!</p><p>We&#39;d also like to confirm that if you would rather purchase a one of the more premium bundles to support us further you still can. The base game will continue to be included in these bundles and if you do upgrade later the base game will be knocked off the price. Excellent!</p><p>We’re positive that this decision will help make the game more accessible than ever, while resolving some of the core problems we’ve faced in the Steam bundle system.               <h2 id="season-structure" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Season Structure</h2><p>Season 3 will start on September 12th and will wrap up in early 2024 (we’ll communicate the exact end date a little later). </p><p>It will consist of 5 main updates released regularly and much like you might expect, each of them is going to bring something new and exciting, 5 new Heroes, and one new original Hero among them! We will also release regular balance patches between each update, as we have done so far.</p><h2 id="update-frequency" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Update Frequency</h2><p>We are making an important change to the release cadence of Season 3. After 0.11, the speed at which we release each patch will slow down slightly. Larger content patches will be roughly every 6 weeks and balance patches will follow them approximately 3 weeks after.</p><p>The reason for this change is to allow us to focus more on adding the remaining content into the game that is necessary for us to reach our Free-To-Play goals. We will also be using the extra time to streamline our release process for our upcoming console release. After this season we will reassess this new cadence and make adjustments. </p><p> </p><h2 id="the-heroes-of-season-3" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">The Heroes of Season 3</h2><p>If you follow our social media channels or are a member of our Discord or community subreddit you probably already know that we’re kicking off Season 3 with another fan favourite, Serath! Prepare to handle this new Hero at her best and at her worst next week!</p><p>The rest of the Heroes for the season remain a closely guarded secret for now, but we will share a hint regarding our next Omeda-Original Hero…</p><p>Codename: Emerald is a powerful new Hero that has harnessed the energy of the Soul Storm in their pursuit of power.</p><p>We’re excited to share more about Codename Emerald but for now, you’ll have to wait until further into the season!</p><h2 id="end-of-season-rewards" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">End of Season Rewards</h2><p>As has been the case in previous seasons, those of you who play during Season 3 will earn rewards based on the final level you achieve by the end of the season.</p><p>Additionally (and as we’ve also done in previous seasons), your player level will be reset once again at the end of Season 3. While we’ve discussed before our intentions to avoid this, it’s a necessary step to take at this stage in Early Access while we continue to flesh out the systems surrounding player levels.</p><p>So let’s talk about those rewards! While our aim is to release the game on both Xbox and PlayStation, the submission process for PlayStation is the furthest one along meaning that the game will come out on this platform first. As a reminder, Predecessor will launch on console as an Early Access title. Whilst in Early Access, we will continue to add and change features, iterate, and build on the game just as we have the PC version. Game updates will be synchronized across all platforms.</p><p>Leaving Early Access will be a big moment for Predecessor, but that milestone will come after Season 3. We’ll talk more about our plans for Free-to-Play at a later time.</p><div class="pg-separator"></div><h3>New UI Hype!</h3><p>We’re starting the season off strong with one of the most highly-anticipated improvements to Predecessor - the much talked about new user interface (UI)! The new UI will improve many aspects of Predecessor, but we want to manage expectations that this is an early look at the new UI. While we’re proud of the work we have done, we’re excited to get your feedback to help us improve the UI further! A chunk of the work went into Controller support, and optimizing for new feature development, and might not be apparent from a player-facing point of view. As with all things during our Early Access journey we’ll be iterating and polishing the new UI with every patch, so please be sure to share your thoughts and feedback as time goes on!</p><div class="pg-separator"></div><h3>Hero Affinity</h3><p>One of the other big additions that you can expect in Season 3 is <i>Hero Affinity</i>, our take on the beloved Hero Mastery system from Paragon. </p><p>With this system, you’ll be rewarded for spending time mastering each Hero. There will be various rewards, with each tier reflecting the hard work and dedication required to achieve it. From shiny titles that will display on loading screens to exclusive skins, there will be plenty of reasons to level up your favorite Heroes. We’ll share more details about this system soon! </p><div class="pg-separator"></div><h3>Hero Acquisition </h3><p>The way that you acquire heroes is also going to change.</p><p>Before you’ll be able to play with a new Hero, you’ll need to unlock them first. This can be done by playing the game and meeting their unlock criteria, or (if you’d prefer), by simply paying to skip the grind.. We hope this system will be rewarding for those who regularly invest their time into Predecessor while also providing goals for you to work toward.</p><p>For more information look out for a dedicated Hero Acquisition blog post, coming soon.</p><div class="pg-separator"></div><h3>Jungle AI Improvement</h3><p>Playing as a Jungler is about to become even more exciting! We’re planning several improvements to make the fights with Jungle minions more challenging and more thrilling.</p><p>Minions will be able to exit their camp radius, attack while moving, jump off nearby ledges, and have improved pathfinding! </p><p>Alongside this we have a larger Jungle rebalance planned to promote more interactive gameplay between the dedicated Junglers and their lane-focused counterparts.</p><p>We hope that these changes will make the Jungle role even more involved and exciting while adding an extra layer of depth for any Hero who ventures in!</p><div class="pg-separator"></div><h3>New and Improved Controller Layout</h3><p>What’s one of the most crucial things we can do in preparation for our console launch? Make sure to optimise the controller layout! </p><p>We’re giving our controller scheme a comprehensive new design, ensuring that players can trigger all of their abilities without needing to take their fingers out of the thumbsticks. Specifically, we’ve optimised the layout with the most used abilities in mind (like Crest and Blink) to make sure they are mapped to the most accessible buttons on the controller. We will share with you the full breakdown closer to the release of this feature.</p><div class="pg-separator"></div><h3>Dynamic Ping System Improvements</h3><p>This has been on our list for a while and we’re pleased to confirm that it’s coming in Season 3!</p><p>It’ll come a little later, but we’re redesigning our pinging system to fit right in with our new user interface. It will have more options to choose from and we think it’ll significantly improve team communication. Telling your teammates what’s going on, and responding and announcing intentions will never have been so quick and easy!</p><div class="pg-separator"></div><h3>Player Account Portal</h3><p>We’ve been teasing a new Player Account Portal for quite a while - and we’re pleased to share that it’ll finally launch during Season 3!</p><p>The Player Account Portal is going to be a hub for you to link your Predecessor game account to a variety of other accounts - opening the door for crossplay across different gaming platforms, as well as allowing social connectivity such as linking to Discord which will finally unlock the Early Access role that we promised when we first launched late last year. </p><div class="pg-separator"></div><h3>Support Portal Release</h3><p>With everything that Predecessor offers, we realize that we do not have technical support to match and this is something that we need to address prior to console release.  We will soon be launching a beta version of our support portal, a place to get technical help quickly and easily.
