In the scorched sprawl of Everburn, Gadget built her name on salvaged parts, stolen tech, and a knack for turning scrap into survival. Her drones keep the greedy pillagers in line, her traps ward off raiders, and her welding mask hides the fear she refuses to show. Loan sharks circle, rivals whisper, and her tenuous grip on her corner of the wasteland feels one short circuit away from collapse.

However, everything changed when Drongo one day blundered into one of her traps, cackling about a “big humming rock” buried deep beneath the sand and cradling a faded slab etched in alien symbols like it was a favourite child.

Most would have written it off as one of the typical ravings of a wasteland madman, but not Gadget. She analysed the stone and deciphered a clue to an ancient monolith supposedly older than the scraplands themselves and capable of mythological feats.

Now the thought won't leave her: if there really is something buried out there - something old enough, powerful enough to shift the very world she lives on - maybe it’s more than just another ruin. Maybe it’s a way out. Or maybe it’s the last mistake she’ll ever make.
